Fr Hugh’s Homily for 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time
‘This is what the Lord asks of you: only this, to act justly, to love tenderly, and to walk humbly with your God.’ The prophet Micah wrote this in the 700s B.C. and it has lasted through the centuries as one of the most famous lines in the Bible. It has a particular relevance to today’s gospel as Matthew is using this parable of Jesus to conclude his Chapter on community, and again stressing the need for forgiveness, but also now for justice in the exercising of it.
