Fr Hugh’s Homily for 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time

What role do women have in the Church?  The debate about women priests   goes on with strong groups in Germany and Austria advocating for it, and smaller groups here and elsewhere making their case.  Pope John Paul II was definitely against discussing it.  Pope Francis more open to discussion about the possibility of women deacons.  And the Church is heavily divided internationally often depending on the societies of the various countries.  This debate has yet to be completed in the Catholic Church, but women have raised their voices very effectively when they have felt called to do so.  Often speaking truth to power as they say these days……
